David Bohan joined Envirologic in 1990, a little over a year after the company was first incorporated. With over 32 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry, David is one of our most senior technical experts.
Envirologic initially hired David for his extensive experience with underground storage tank cleanup. Until eight years ago, his main responsibility was to design and implement soil and groundwater remediation systems, focusing on producing effective, cost-efficient solutions for clients. His position has since evolved, however, as a result of the role he played in the emergency response activities Envirologic conducted for a large-scale oil pipeline spill in 2010. Under David's management, Envirologic staff were involved in the spill's initial remediation, which took place over the course of four months. Because field staff were unavailable to complete previously scheduled work during this period, David was also charged with re-scheduling field work to maintain our previous commitments to clients. After the initial spill response was completed, Envirologic formed a long-term relationship with the client to assist with environmental inspections for several of the client's pipelines. David has been the lead contact for this project since the relationship's inception.
In his role as Associate Vice President, David's main duties include interfacing with Envirologic's gas utility sector clients, as well as conducting the managerial tasks associated with pipeline environmental inspections (i.e., Soil Erosion Sedimentation Control Inspections). As one of Envirologic's Senior Environmental Scientists, he has designed and conducted numerous hydrogeological and geological investigations and has managed multiple large-scale, commercial projects. David is also Envirologic's resident IT specialist, managing all of Envirologic's office and field technology.
David and his wife, Mindy, have four sons, two of which are married and living on their own. With what little spare time he has, David enjoys reading. As his sons have gotten older, he has tried to read the same books as them so that they can read together. As a result, his current reading list is a mish-mash of Tom Clancy spy thrillers and young adult novels along the lines of Thirteen Reasons Why. David also has a deep love of astronomy. In the summer, he and his youngest son go stargazing and watch meteor showers. One of these days, he would love to pull out the heavy, GPS-enabled telescope collecting dust in his basement to do some astrophotography.
For those unfamiliar with David's humorous, science-loving personality, his bucket list might be little surprising. As a self-proclaimed amateur weather forecaster -- in his words, "as good as most weathermen . . . and equally unreliable" -- the first item on his list is to see a tornado in person. David pictures himself taking one of the tornado and storm chase tours that run through Tornado Alley to see the elusive weather wonder. If that wasn't enough of an adventure, the second item on David's bucket list is to see a volcano, one unlikely to erupt during his visit, he reassured me. On a less extreme note, David also wants to someday visit Alaska, perhaps on a cruise, to see the beautiful landscapes.
After 29 years of working at Envirologic, David is one of the core pillars of the Envirologic Team. The dedication and commitment he exhibits while striving to become "the expert" of every project he's a part of is truly praiseworthy. Thank you, David, for your passion, expertise, and initiative. Not to mention the wonderful sense of humor you bring to the office.
