To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Michigan state parks, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has planned a yearlong centennial celebration throughout 2019 that includes special events, podcasts, geocaching, and more. As a part of these anniversary festivities, Envirologic is proud to sponsor the Campfire Storytelling Project event series. The purpose of this series is to share memorable state park stories and celebrate the impact the parks have had on visitors over the past 100 years. At each event, seasoned storytellers share their stories around a large campfire; attendees are also encouraged to share their own state park memories and experiences.
Stories from the events are recorded live and then coverted into podcasts hosted by Michigan Runner Girl Heather Durocher. You can listen to the recordings here.
As event sponsors, Envirologic was asked to prepare an introduction for the campfire series. We shared the following.
Envirologic is proud to sponsor the Michigan state parks' centennial Campfire Storytelling Project! There is a Native American proverb that says, "Those who tell the stories rule the world." Great stories make people care, and Envirologic is supporting the Storytelling Project in the hopes that these remarkable stories will make those listening care. Care about the parks, about the storytellers' experiences, and ultimately about the planet. As an Environmental Consulting firm, Envirologic cares about Michigan's environmentally challenged land and strives to clean up and redevelop vacant, underutilized properties across the state, while focusing on their mission to "do good work to do good." The entire Envirologic team hopes that you enjoy tonight's event, and that each of you has the opportunity to make new memories in one of Michigan's state parks this year.
