While writing this message, I was reminded of just how many of my own family members have served in the United States military throughout history. The number is humbling. Likewise, when I think of the millions of military veterans in our country today, my mind often first goes to those who served during WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. But I also remember those who served in the Gulf War, Afghanistan, and the war on terror, as well as all those who served in peace time and those currently serving. They continue to carry on the tradition, honor the legacies of their predecessors, and most of all, fight to preserve the freedoms that we all enjoy.
To the families of these brave men and women, my heart goes out to you. I may not comprehend all the sacrifices you have made as a family, but I am thankful. And to those brave soldiers who did not come home, I am eternally grateful for their dedication and sacrifice.
This Veterans Day, join me in honoring all who served and giving thanks.
