On September 8th, the U.S. EPA shared a press release affirming the Michner Plating-Mechanic Street Site in Jackson, MI, is one of thirteen sites proposed nationwide to be added to the National Priorities List. Our team has had the honor of supporting this effort.
"This is an unusual project for Envirologic. Typically we look to grants, loans, brownfield plans, etc., to help a municipality deal with problem sites. In some cases, those sites are too contaminated, too complex, and too costly for brownfield programs to be effective. This is the case for the Michner Plating property in Jackson. Working in collaboration with EPA, City, County and State officials, we have sought to have this property added to the Superfund National Priorities List so that federal resources can assist the community in cleaning up this property and protect public health. The proposed listing and opening of public comment is a step in the right direction for this site."
Dave Stegink, Manager of Redevelopment Services
